Yoga Therapy with Sulyone

What is Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy is the holistic and personalised application of yoga techniques to meet the needs and interests of an individual. It is an integrated mind-body approach and I, as a yoga therapist, will work with you to provided yoga therapy tailored specifically for you.

How it works

If you seek yoga as a therapy to help to manage your specific health concerns or challenges or if you look to yoga therapy for help with your general sense of wellbeing through a practice that is personalised specifically for you as an individual.

I will work with you to identify imbalance in your physical (musculoskeletal), physical (digestion, respiration, cardiovascular, endocrine and immune) as well as mental and emotional systems. We will work together to explore practices designed to store the balance and reduce suffering.

The first session will begin with an in-depth consultation that will include taking a medical history and listening to your needs and goals for therapy. Depending on those goals I may explore your mobility and breathing patterns , working with you to provide a tailored personal practice that will meet your specific needs.

What is involved

Therapy clinic sessions will be designed which may include movement, breathing technics, meditation or sound as well as restorative practice. I will guide and support you to understand and comfortable with the practices before you leave the session.

-Yoga posture can help you relieve muscle tension, build strength and reduce stiffness

-Yoga Breathing can help you clam the mind, reduce anxiety and feel ground and more balanced

-Yoga Philosophy offers reflection and practices concerned with the potential you have as an individual human being, using your mental and physical capabilities.

How it might help you

Reduce symptoms of illness or injuries

Establish more functional breath and movement patterns.

Reduce physical and mental suffering

Improve quality of life

Some examples of conditions where yoga therapy may helpful include

-Muscular or joint pain (e.g. lower back pain, shoulder or neck pain, frozen shoulder)

-Chronic conditions including Chronic Fatigue syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis and post-viral fatigue

-Stress and stress-related conditions including, anxiety, panic attacks, depression and lethargy

-Asthma, breathing disorders, self-image and confidence issues

I will assess your health in detail and advise on the suitability of yoga therapy for you. Yoga therapy can, and where appropriate should, be used to support conventional medicine and other complementary therapists.

Physically the exercises were targeted and tailored to help with the conditions I had. But very usefully, SuLyone changed the exercises and focus as she learnt more about what I needed during the first few sessions. SuLyone also added in a focus on breathing and body posture which has brought a new awareness and is still changing my behaviour today. It’s been great. And this will probably have a much longer lasting impact than the targeted exercises we originally discussed.

I would definitely recommend it.  It's leveraging yoga but it's tailored to you, it can help and assist in physical, well-being but the biggest benefit comes from a more holistic approach to your body and mind.

I would recommend that anyone go in with a broader mind or openness to what they can get out of it. It was also an excellent gateway into understanding the full scope of yoga or at least getting an understanding of the potential breadth of what it is.

It helped with my neck to get it moving on a larger scale, and the pain was less from week to week! It also helped me to relax and focus on myself! I really enjoyed the sessions, SuLyone is a great listener and really wants to help people

The home practices were easy to follow and were a great start to my day. I liked the stretching exercises and the breathing exercises! It was good to get prepared for the day ahead
